About Us
Arms Art is related to a very honored Black Smith family truly dedicated to the art of Knives & Sword making. Our family has been the most important part of the royal army of Mewar, a powerful kingdom in western part of India. For the past 400 years our forefathers have been serving the army. Today no kings or crowns live and there are no armies but still I Gopilal Lohar with my three sons have tried to continue the tradition that have been followed by my forefathers. Born in the family of traditional Indian blacksmiths, particularly of ornamental weaponry of Udaipur in Rajasthan, I have practiced the most difficult art of ornamental inlaying of gold and silver on weapons like swords, knives, daggers etc.
As generally known the art of making Damascus was developed in India and with time it became extinct. Knowing the fact I tried to redevelop this rare art of Damascus steel For the past 30 years I have been working to produce finest quality Damascus steel and I have been trying to improve the quality using the secrets of my family trade.
For my contribution towards development and adding new ideas to this art as a whole, I had received numerous awards few of the majors awards are listed :
National Award by President Of India in the year 1985
SHILP GURU Award given by Vice President of India In the year of 2005-2006
Forhex Award for best veteran artist given by Vice President of India In the year of 2005
Maharana Sajjan Singh Award In 1992 from current royalty of Udaipur
State award from Rajasthan Government for the year 1992-93.
Given the major part of my life and with the true efforts of my three sons towards this art today we have been able to made a good collection of our art pieces which are available for our valued customer on our site.
We would appreciate any suggestion on our work.
